AppCademy is an intensive accelerator camp run by AppCampus. AppCademy is a 4-week training camp held in Espoo, Finland, where we invite the most talented and promising teams that have been accepted to the AppCampus program. The teams invited get support for some of the airfare as well as lodging during their stay in Finland. AppCademy is run approximately four times in a year, and it is hosted at AppSpace co-working premises at the Open Innovation House located in the heart of Aalto University, Finland.

4 weeks of intensive training… and some fun

The camp offers extensive coaching and training in branding & positioning, design and UX excellence, development, monetization, marketing, communications and much more. The teams will also be coached to pitch their ideas to future partners (including investors). They will be given lots of networking possibilities where they can build their contacts and demo their ideas to actual audience. AppCademy is structured to provide lots of hands-on training sessions and 1-on-1 coaching and less lectures – this way the teams get to work on making their app a success right away. The goal is that at the end of the camp the team will have either launched or demoed their app successfully.

As tough as it may sound, we haven’t completely forgotten about fun. During free-time we’ll introduce the campers to some Finnish traditions such as a visit to authentic smoke sauna, and of course rolling around naked in the snow (dependent on seasonal weather conditions). There’ll also be a hackathon weekend, a local event with key notes and time to code, and a visit to a local start-up hotspot.  [Watch the AppCademy trailer here](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20gESaTvdN4)!

Worldclass Coaching

We have a great number of international coaches joining the camp and helping the teams with their apps. The coaching will be tough at times, but it will also have great results and push the teams. The teams will visit the local Nokia & Microsoft offices and get to meet relevant people from both corporations. Some of the training sessions will be accessible online to greater audience.

Who are we to brag about ourselves, take a look at what our AppCademy Alumni have to say about the camp:

“We attended AppCademy during the last month of development on our first game, Fling Theory. The marketing training we received at AppCademy was really valuable to our small, indie game company. We received some helpful feedback and polished the game to a higher standard, but most importantly, we learned how to promote the game for a successful launch.  I would highly recommend applying for AppCampus and attending AppCademy to any start-up”
– Jodon Karlik (US), CodingJar Studios

“AppCademy was AWESOME! I learned so much and gained so many new friends. I had a fantastic time even though working hours was sometime more that 15 hours a day! Thanks you for pushing us to the limit!”
– Mikael Thomsen (DK), Soluna Software

When is the next camp?

We piloted the AppCademy camp concept in November 2011, and held camps in March, June and September 2013. We plan to run future AppCademy camp every semester and expect to have the next one in Spring 2014.
